Aschburner: It was not supposed to end this way at all

From Steve Aschburner/SI.com:
No, it was not supposed to end this way at all.

The only reason it is, or can, is that the T'wolves so lowered the bar of expectations that they inadvertently prepped their fans for this downer.

On a Celtics team with Garnett, Chris McCosky/Detroit News writes that it's "hard to see them being legitimate title contenders."

Jackie MacMullan/Boston Globe believes the same team is "one of the favorites to win the Eastern Conference."

Gerry Callahan/Boston Herald writes that "just like that, your Boston Celtics go from 24-58 to a spot in the NBA Finals..."

From Steve Greenberg/Sporting News:
Let's also pause to give thanks for the friendship of Kevin McHale and Danny Ainge. Without that, this deal never happens.

From Bob Sansevere/Pioneer Press:
The thing is, the Wolves reeked with K.G. the past few seasons. They'll probably reek without him the next few seasons. So, in the overall scheme of things, nothing really would change for Glen Taylor's money pit.
