McHale And Others On The Draft

Fox Sports details the Wolves "spotty record" in the draft.

"We stayed in our pre- lottery draft slot, which is what we thought might happen," Wolves VP of Basketball Operations Kevin McHale said in a release. "We are confident that we will be able to get a solid player with the sixth selection. There will be some guys out there that can help us out at this spot."

From the Pioneer Press:
The franchise hasn't had a selection this high since Wally Szczerbiak was chosen sixth in 1999.

McHale said he thinks most teams will draft based on their needs because there aren't many can't-miss prospects.

"You'll probably see some players go earlier than expected because a team will say, 'Hey, we need a point guard or we need this or we need that,' " McHale said. "But it's going to be a draft that's going to have some depth to it."

NBA TV's Rick Kamla was on KFAN this morning, suggesting the Wolves take Andrea Bargnani in the draft if he's still available.
