Garnett To Receive Citizenship Award
Garnett will be announced as the recipient of the NBA's J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship award.The award recognizes an NBA player or coach for outstanding service to the community. Named for the league's second commissioner, it is presented annually by the Professional Basketball Writers Association.
"I am happy that I can help make a difference in the communities, and blessed to be in the position where I am able to lend support," Garnett said in a statement.
Although Garnett is very deserving of the honor, it would have been amusing to see an NBA citizenship award presented to Ron Artest who was also among the finalists.
